JEFF NASHAN

Jeffrey Nashan, Montana Watch Company owner and founder and a devotee of the early American watch style, began his career in horology as a watchmaker specializing in the restoration of vintage timepieces. He became particularly fascinated with the history of early American wrist and pocket watch manufacturing, from back in the day when American companies dominated the field. When Nashan’s interests went beyond simple restoration and into the areas of design and manufacture he founded The Montana Watch Company and began what has become a passion to create truly unique, heirloom timepieces inspired by the designs of early American watchmakers.

CHRIS DeCAMILLIS

Master engraver Christian DeCamillis draws his inspiration from the diversity of the North American wildlands. The portraits in the Wildlife Series are rendered from his Bulino-style fine art engravings. For his first 20 years, Chris worked in the jewelry field as a goldsmith, wax carver, master model-maker, repair expert, metal caster, and custom jewelry designer. During the next 10 years, Chris pursued hand engraving to fulfill his personal goal of becoming a fine engraver as well. He studied the work of many top engravers, attended engraving classes in the U.S. and then received advanced training in Italy under the renowned Bottega Cesare Gioveanelli. Today, Chris’ dedication and competence in a variety of fine handwork is bestowed upon the custom timepieces of the Rocky Mountain Watch Company and enthusiastically shared with his students in the GRS Training Center.

ERNIE LYTLE

Inspired by the styling of the early American West, the rope and scroll pattern of the Beartooth model is designed by western engraver E.A. Lytle. Ernie operates E.A. Lytle engraving from a compact shop amid the splendor of the Shoshone River country outside of Powell, Wyoming. Initially working on a succession of ranches as a cutting horse trainer, along the way Ernie became a maker of bits and spurs, first as a hobby and then commercially. He took ever-increasing amounts of time with each piece, trying to make it functional and attractive as possible. Eventually he began to engrave, learning many of the fundamentals on his own, and twenty years later he was completely committed to engraving as a vocation. Ernie had the privilege of working under the guidance of Joseph, a now retired master Engraver for Winchester. That apprenticeship, coupled with his own serious study of the designs and techniques of Gustave Yong and Louis D. Nimschke, resulted in a quantum leap in the quality of his work. Named Engraver of the Year 2006 from the Academy of Western Art, Ernie engraves watches and gold inlaid Ranger sets of belt buckles, tips, and keepers for the Montana Watch Company of Livingston.
